Verbobonc and its environs witnessed many years of peace until evil surfaced in the nearby Kron Hills. There, the mysterious Temple of Elemental Evil was built, and many vile men and creatures flocked to the area. By CY568, it became clear that the villains had established an army, and the following year saw a great battle between this horde and the forces of Verbobonc, Veluna, and even Furyondy. The forces of Good, led by Prince Thrommel of Furyondy, eventually won the battle and scattered the evil hordes at the Battle of Emridy Meadows. Powerful mages and clerics sealed the temple with arcane bindings, claiming to have trapped a powerful demon within the golden doors of the edifice. Five years later, the hero Prince Thrommel disappeared. It was theorized that he was abducted by agents of the Scarlet Brotherhood, the mysterious group of Suel zealots to the south and east. His grief-stricken betrothed, High Mistress of the Order Joline, has retreated from the public eye. No one knows for sure what happened to Thrommel, but he remains missing to this day...
